Comprises six small buttons, with a pattern embroidered in white cotton, stitched to a piece of hand-made card. The whole stitched to a folded sheet of writing paper, headed Hamilton, Waikato, NZ. Text on the writing paper reads: 'The buttons were made by the French prisoners at St Helena some where between 1803 & 1806, my great grand mother, when she was stationed there with her husband & the Duke of Wellington when they visited the Island, handed down from Mrs Proctor Smith to her son Capt William Mein Smith to his eldest daughter Francis Campbell Tully (nee Smith) to me, her daughter Olive W.
