Bullock-Webster, Harold, 1855-1942: Hall at Binfield Court, Berkshire. 1880s. Shows a wooden staircase, and wooden furnishings, in the hall of an English home. On the wall at the right are hung North American artifacts (including snowshoes). There is an animal rug on the floor. Binfield Court, Berkshire, was actually the residence of Harry’s uncle F D Bullock-Webster. Harry's father lived at Elton Hall, Herefordshire. The inscription on the back of the work appears to be mistaken. Inscriptions: Verso - top centre - Hall at Binfield Court, Berkshire, home of Harry Bullock-Webster's father [in ballpoint pen] The artifacts and rug may have been acquired during the time (ca 1874-1880) when the artist worked in Canada for the Hudson Bay Company. The artist was born in England and revisited in 1879, and then again in 1887-1890. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour and Chinese white, 239 x 390 mm.
